Growing up in a low-income community in Macon, Mississippi, Shanda knew at a very early age that her life's work would be to help others who grew up in environments like hers. With limited resources in these communities, it can be daunting to see a better life or to envision a way out, but Shanda was determined to rise above her circumstances.
Shanda faced many obstacles as a teen. Coming from a single parent household, she spent most of her days providing care for her three younger siblings. But life would prove to be even tougher, as she became a mother at the tender age of 17.
Shanda did not let this stop her dreams of graduating high school. She finished at the top of her class, with the esteemed Salutatorian honor, and went on to college to secure three degrees. She also holds countless certifications in the Tech field, has four small businesses and is a, newly, self-published author.
Because Shanda understands the challenges that teen mothers and single mothers face, she has worked tirelessly to provide resources and assistance to those less fortunate in her neighboring communities.
Shanda now resides in Atlanta, GA, along with her husband, where she has raised four awesome children! She lives by the motto: Be 1% better than you were the day before. She is passionate about empowering women and helping them to become self-sufficient in a world that often deems them second class citizens. Her mission is to change the world, one WOMAN at a time!
